Falconry Days and Hawk Walks
Have you ever fancied learning how to fly and handle some of the most amazing birds of prey? Well now we are giving you the opportunity to do just that during your holiday with us at Sherwood Hideaway.
We have teamed up with a local family business ‘Go Active’ to offer Hideaway guests amazing experiences with Birds of prey. An experience any age will be in awe of as they walk through the woods with the birds or have them visiting the lodge on your own decking area. Go active also offer the perfect birthday package with their Harry Potter Owls package. See below for details. These run Tuesday 10:30 and Saturday 10:30 though can be tailored to other time dependent on demand and availability.
Falconry Days
Our Falconry Days are led by a local family business ‘Go Active’. During the day you will learn how to fly and handle hawks, falcons, owls and eagles, as they glide through the tree tops of Sherwood Forest. Groups will be limited to eight people, with each person equipped with their own glove and vest.
- Woodland Walk with Hawks – £95.00 per lodge
- Bird of Prey visit to the lodge. Owls or Hawks – have them sit with you on your own private decking area and get to ask the handler questions as they fly high and back to you. £80.00
- Harry Potter owls package – A Harry Potter Owls birthday party, incredibly popular. The owls visit you at your lodge £125.00
Refreshments are provided but candidates bring their own lunches.

Daily Hawk Walks
Join us on our daily Hawk Walk to experience Harris Hawks flying through the pine and birch trees of Sherwood Forest. You’ll be led by expert falconer Simon Stacey who will show you how to call the birds so they perch on your arm, and he’ll give you an insight into these magnificent birds. All equipment, including your glove and hawking vest, is provided.
How to take part: Walks start from the Sherwood Hideaway reception and take place every day. Discounted rate for Sherwood Hideaway guests at £95 per lodge, and last around 1.5 hours.
